Typography/Task 3A

LECTURES

We follow Mr. Vinod's lecture to finish our task.

INSTRUCTIONS

Task 3A
Type Design & Communication

We need to design a set of fonts. I made five sketches first. The second sketch was inspired by the feeling of squeezing. The third inspiration comes from the tentacles of the devil.  Mr. Vinod suggested that I choose the fourth sketch.

Mr. Vinod looked at my digitized font, suggested I change my letters E and G, and showed me how.

I met some problems, but after I asked my classmates, they were solved soon.

I modified it to make the font look more harmonious.

According to Mr. Vinod's lecture, I imported the font into FontLab and exported it successfully. I designed a poster using my font in the illustrator app.

FEEDBACK

Week 9
Specific Feedback:I like to express interesting designs with uncomplicated lines.

General Feedback:Mr. Vinod looked at my work and asked me which design I liked better, and I chose the second and the fourth. Mr. Vinod suggested that I choose the fourth design.

Week 10
Specific Feedback:Mr. Vinod told me that I could not use the original font, and that I should completely change it, including the thickness of the strokes.

General FeedbackAfter I changed the font, I asked Mr. Vinod. Mr. Vinod was very patient to tell me my problem. As I couldn't express myself clearly, I had a nice classmate translate for me. Mr. Vinod patiently showed me how to design the letter G.

REFLACTIONS

Week 9
Experiences:  I design fonts with a lot of inspiration that I think is interesting.

Observations:  Some of my inspirations were a bit complicated and I chose a design that was easy to digitize.

Findings:  Mr. Vinod likes the fourth sketch as much as I do. Great minds think alike.

Week 10
Experiences: When I was digitizing, I had some problems with some letters, but Mr. Vinod saw it and gave me a solution.

Observations:  I thought it was fun to design my own font, so I named it after my last name.

Findings:  I find our tasks more complex each time, but more challenging, which can make me a good designer.
