REFLECTION

Experience: This semester felt like it was going by very quickly and I was invested in the process. My study in typography was not smooth in the first semester. At that time, I just entered school and couldn't adapt to it. I almost failed the class and finally got a C. This time I worked very hard in advanced typesetting and I made a lot of progress. Not only did I adapt, I also studied very seriously. From the exercises in task 1 to the final, I have a better understanding and study of typesetting. I learned to create fonts and apply fonts. In order to achieve the application effect of fonts, I made many attempts, which improved my proficiency in applying layout and typography.

Observations:  Due to language issues, when I was studying many modules, I was not particularly able to understand what I was studying or what I should do. But in this module I not only learned a lot, but I also understood my job and wanted to do it better. Because Mr. Vinod's teaching method is clearer than many lecturers, he will tell us what we should do before each week, check our progress this week, and give us feedback. I am very grateful to him because I found Mr. Vinod to be the only person who seems to care about the communication issues of non-native English-speaking students. He was worried that we wouldn't understand, so he would record the very important knowledge into a video and explain it in detail in the video. We can watch them over and over until we learn them. (This is of great benefit, because when I was doing the task of designing fonts, I actually forgot the knowledge I learned in the first semester, so I found Mr. Vinod’s Recordings on YouTube and watched it again. Those recordings were Very important knowledge, without that, I don’t think my mission would be completed smoothly).

Findings: This module is not easy and there is a lot to do, but surprisingly, I was able to keep up with Mr. Vinod without falling behind. This module is my favorite module this semester. In this module, I can think and create without being bound by language. In the last class, I brought some candy I made, which I shared with my friends, and I wanted to share it with Mr. VInod to thank him for helping me this semester, but I didn't dare to do it. In short, This module was an important milestone in my personal and professional growth. It not only improved my design skills but more importantly, it taught me how to deeply combine creative thinking and work to create meaningful and unique works. Through this process, I became more convinced that design is a powerful communication tool that can transcend boundaries and connect different people and cultures.
