Task 2 (Individual): Re-designing an infographic
In the first week of class we were asked to choose an old poster that was poorly designed, point out what was wrong with it and use free software to redesign the poster and evaluate the software used.

'Issues' :
1. Tedious and pointless
2. Frightening eyes
3. Pink looks unstable
I find it more effective to use simple diagrams. The sketch below is my initial idea.
Fig. 1.4. Layout Sketches
The infographic tool I used was Canva, I used arrow elements to reflect the growth of the data and I used a dark transition for the background of my poster, I thought the dark colours looked solid, MTV is a music channel so I added elements like musical rhythms to accent the poster.
Difficulty, intuitiveness: 5/5
I use the Canva App on my tablet and Canva is very easy to use and flexible, so even a novice can get started quickly.
Usefulness: 4/5
Canva is mostly free to use, slideshows, posters and many other things can be done with Canva, there are many elements to choose from and I can add my own elements, which I think is very convenient and time saving.
Design templates, choices: 4/5
The home page is clearly categorised and has a wide range of templates and elements that can be added and removed to suit different needs.

I selected the monster elements I needed in the specified website, and then started to typesetting. I used circles with colors ranging from light to dark and shapes from small to large as the monster background. I used the Warp tool to warp the text so that it fits the arc of the circle.
